Greetings from International Student Affairs Office of Ningbo University and welcome here. This guide is mainly for the international students who come to Ningbo for the first time and is trying to provides as much information for your life as possible and it helps you to acclimate yourself here.

Although possibly you have used products made in China, maybe many of your friends are from China or even you yourself are a foreign citizen of Chinese origin, China is probably still a land of strangeness and mystery to you. We understand that you may take it as a challenging adventure to your life to make the decision to study in China. It is strongly recommended to take some time to read this guide carefully. Many of your questions must be covered in it. This guide is still being updated and you are encouraged to submit your questions and suggestions. Please send your ideas to the maintenance personnel of this guide via email.

宁波大学在宁波的位置

Location of Ningbo University in the Ningbo City

宁波大学位于宁波市东北部，在镇海区和江北区交接处，距离栎社国际机场约40公里。距离城 市中心天一广场约15公里。宁波大学是一所年轻的地方综合性大学，1986年率先由世界船王包玉刚先生捐资组建。学校学科门类齐全，涵盖了经、法、教、文、史、理、工、农、医、管等十一大门类。现有在校本科生26671多人，研究生6131多人，学历留学生1500多人，与世界各地的85所高校建立校际交流关系。学校占地200多公顷，建筑面积80余万平方米。

Ningbo University is located in the northeast part, in the joint point of Zhenhai and Jiangbei District of the Ningbo City. It is about 40 kilometers from the Ningbo Lishe International Airport and 15 kilometers from Tianyi Square, the center of the city. Ningbo University is a dynamic, comprehensive and now one of the top 100 universities in mainland of China with a wide range of disciplines: economics, law, education, liberal arts, history, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine and management. Established in 1986, with the first donation from Sir Yue-Kong Pao, now it has more than 26671 undergraduate students, over 6131 graduate students and around 1500 international students in degree programs. It established relationships with 85 universities all over the world. It covers an area over 200 hectares, with a floor space totaling over 800000 square meters

应该什么时候抵达？

When shall I arrive?

我们建议所有的学生按照录取通知书上指定的报到时间抵达学校，尽量不要提前或者推迟。

提前报到会有很多的问题，比如公寓尚未准备好足够的房间，比如留办可能仍然处于假期中，无法办理入学手续，更加可能发生的问题由于提前入境，你的签证将不足以涵盖你的学习期限，你可能需要申请延长你的停留期，引发不必要的麻烦。

留办的工作时间为周一至周五的8 : 0 0-11:30，13:00-16:30，法定节假日和学校假日除外。尽可能在留办的工作时间抵达学校。抵达以后可以直接到留办办理各项入学手续。

如果由于航班时间等原因确实无法按时到达，也不必过分担心，如果你已经预定了房间，你可以先到24小时服务公寓总服务台办理入住手续，待下一个工作日再办理入学手续。

It is suggested that all students arrive on the day of registration indicated on the Admission Notice. Try not to be ahead or late of schedule. Some problems may be cause by coming too early: the apartment has not arranged enough rooms, the ISAO is still on holiday and not able to accept registration. Most possibly, because of early entrance, the validity time of your visa is not long enough for your study and it will cause unnecessary troubles for you to apply for extension of your stay. The work time for ISAO is 8:00-12:00, 13:00-17:00, public holidays and school holidays excluded. The best arrival time at the university is in the work time of ISAO, as you can register upon arrival. However, if it is impossible to arrive on time because of the flight schedule or other reasons, there is no need to worry. In that case, if you have successfully reserved a room in the dormitory, you can check-in at the general reception (24 hours on duty) of Apartment and register on the next work day in ISAO.

在机场的出口处可以搭乘出租车到宁波大学留学生公寓楼，在路况正常的情况下，费用应当在人民币80元左右，如果遇到道路堵塞和夜晚的情况，费用会有所增加。如果你不懂中文，你可以预先将下面的地址说明打印出来，给出租车司机看。或者可以请出租车司机打电话给宁波大学留学生办公室，电话号码是13456163101。

At the gate of arrival, you can take a taxi to the International Students Apartment of Ningbo University. Usually, the expense for the trip is around RMB 80 Yuan. It will cost more at night or if there is heavy traffic. If you cannot speak any Chinese, you can print out the address description below before arrival and show it to the taxi driver, which is recommended. You can also ask the driver to call 13456163101, for more information.

Shuttle Bus

在机场有机场巴士往来于市区。您可以搭乘机场大巴到宁波市区，然后乘出租车到宁波大学留学生公寓楼，票价约25元。此路线适用于行李不多且对宁波交通比较熟悉的同学。

The Airport Shuttle Buses connect the city and the airport. You can take the shuttle bus to the city center and then take the taxi to the international student’s apartment of Ningbo University. The ticket fee of the shuttle bus is RMB 20 and the taxi costs around RMB 25. It is only recommended to the students who have little luggage and are quite familiar with the Ningbo City.

留学学生办公室

International Student Affairs Office (ISAO)

宁波大学留学生办公室（留办）是学校专门负责来校留学生的行政管理部门，承担有关来校学习咨询、接收学生、学籍管理、办理学生签证和居留许可的有关手续及组织留学生有关活动等日常管理工作。

ISAO conducts administration and provides services to the international students of Ningbo University. The administrative affairs of ISAO including consultation, admissions, registration, academics, visa and residence permit applications, etc. ISAO serves the students with campus accommodations, extra-curricular activities, accidental and emergency issues, etc.

留学生公寓

Apartment for International Students

留学生公寓是宁波大学校内由相关部门批准的接待外国留学生住宿的公寓，由宁波大学后勤服务处管理。

Apartment for International Students is an authorized apartment to host international students on-campus. It is managed by the Department of Logistics Service of Ningbo University.

学习签证

Student Visa

依照中国法律，来华留学的外国留学生应当持有学习签证入境。学生办理学习签证，应当持有接收院校所开具的录取通知书，《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》（JW201/JW202表），前往中国驻所在国家的使领馆办理学习签证。学习期限长于6个月的学生一般应持有X1签证入境，学期期间短于6个月的学生一般应持有X2签证入境。中国驻外使领馆有权根据学生的个人情况决定是否签发签证，学校不对学生获得签证做任何保证。

宁波大学在录取外国留学生后，会将录取通知书及《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》（JW201/JW202表）一同寄给学生本人， 供学生申请签证使用。

录取通知书及《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》（JW201/JW202表）是两份非常重要的文件，除在境外申请签证以外，入学以后的学习签证换发和延期等业务也需要使用，学生务必将原件妥善保存并携带入境。扫描件、复印件不能作为办理签证业务所使用的正式文件。

According to the laws, foreign students coming to China for study should use student's visa for entrance. With the Admission Notice, Visa Application for Study in China (Form JW201 or JW202), the student applies for the student's visa in the Chinese embassy or consulate in his/her own country. Generally, students who plan to study in China for over 6 months will be issued an X1 visa, and those for less than 6 months will be issued an X2 visa. The Chinese embassy or consulate has full authority to make the decision if the applicant should be issued a visa or not. NO guarantee is expressed by the university to any student that he/ she will be issued a student's visa. Ningbo University will send the Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (Form JW201 or JW202) to the student after the admission is offered. The Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (Form JW201 or JW202) are both very important documents for the foreign students. Not only are they used for the application of the student's visa, but also for the renewal and extension of the student's visa after the student registers in the university. Therefore, the student must keep the original copy of these documents and bring them to China. Scans or photocopies of these documents are NOT qualified for the visa affairs.

正确使用学习签证

Use the Student's Visa Properly

正常情况下，学生应当在入境学习前申请办理学习签证，并在指定的时间前后到学校报到办理入学手续。由于学习签证有明确的期限限制，学生持有学习签证应当合理安排行程，在入境后按时到学校报到。过早和过晚使用学生签证入境都会造成学生在签证问题上遭遇麻烦。比指定的报到时间提前太多入境，可能会导致在指定的报到时间前签证已经过期，而且往往学校处于假期，不能办理签证业务，导致签证过期面临处罚。不仅如此，未在学校报到的学生，学校不能提供面向学生的各项服务。抵达时间太晚，往往会影响正常的课程安排，尤其是错过选课时间。如果学生因为各种原因不能到校报到，请及时通报留办的项目联系人，而且不要使用学校寄发的录取文件申请学习签证入境。为打击骗取和滥用学生签证的行为，依据目前的规定，每个学期的学生报到期限结束后，学校将会把寄送过录取文件但是未在学校报到的学生名单报送至公安机关。此类记录不仅将会对此学生今后的申请造成负面影响，而且如果学生以此申请学生签证入境从事其他活动，将可能面临调查、罚款、拘留或者是遣返出境的处罚无特殊原因时，学校不赞成使用除学习签证以外的其他签证类型入学报到。因为根据签证政策，持有非学习签证的学生入学以后必须要转为学习类型的居留许可，一方面费时费力费钱，另外一方面，某些类型的签证是不能转为学习签证的，甚至需要学生出境后重新申请学习签证，影响到学生的顺利学习。

特别要提示的是，根据政府有关部门的要求和授权，无论因为何种原因，如果学生到校报到时持有的签证已经过期，学校不接受学生的报到。任何因学生的签证过期而导致的后果，例如受到公安机关的处罚，无法顺利入学开始学习，以及重新申请签证所需要额外交纳费用及时间损失等，将由学生本人完全承担。

不得涂改护照和签证是非常重要的法定证件。在任何情况下，绝对不能擅自涂改护照和签证上的任何内容，也不得在护照上擅自涂画、加盖纪念章等。涂改护照和签证内容存在极大的安全隐患，而且被视为是一种不尊重的行为。如果护照或者签证被发现涂改，学生可能会被拒签，拒绝入境或者受到处罚。由于涂改行为很可能是为了掩盖其他的违法犯罪行为，因此学生还可能会被要求接受调查。如果学生入学时持有的护照或者签证被擅自涂改，学校将不接受其注册报到。

Normally, a foreign student should apply for the student’s visa before his/her entrance of China for study, and register at the university in the indicated period. Since the student's visa has a explicit and definite period of validity, the holder should arrange the trip reasonably and register at the university on time. Entering China too early or too late may get you into a lot of trouble. Arriving too early may result in the visa expiring before the indicated registration time, as in the holiday time the visa cannot be processed and the student is being held responsible for the expiration of the visa. Moreover, the university is not able to provide any service for the students who have not registered. Late arrival always disturbs the arrangement of the study schedule, especially make the student miss the chance of course selection.

If the student fails to register because of any reason, please inform the program coordinators in ISAO and DO NOT use the admission documents to apply for a student visa. As a countermeasure of the abuse of student visas required by the government, the university will report all the information of the students, who have been sent the admission documents but have not registered, to the police and immigration department after the registration time of each semester ended. This kind of record may have an adverse effect to the further application of this person, and, if the person uses the visa related admission documents for some other activities, he/ she may be investigated, fined, taken into custody or deported as a result of law-breaking. Normally, ISAO strongly disagrees that the students register in the university with any other visa except the student's visa. In that case, the student should apply for a residence permit after the registration at the university. It is not only a waste of money and time, but visas of some specific types cannot be used for the residence permit application and it is possible that the student is required to go back overseas to apply for the student's visa from the beginning, which will significantly disturb the study plan. It is reminded again that if the student holds a visa that has expired at registration, he/she will be refused to be registered, regardless of any reason, as the university is authorized and required by the government. All the consequences caused by the expiration of the visa, such as the penalty and punishment by the police, the incapability of enrollment, the extra payment and time cost for the re-application process of the visa, etc., are all fully taken by the student himself/ herself.

DO NOT ALTER the passport and visa, which are both important legal identification documents. DO NEVER presume to alter any part of the content, write anything or stamp on the pages of your passport by yourself. Altering the content of the passport has a potential security risk and is usually considered an expression of disrespect. Once discovered by the police, the holder will be refused a new visa, be rejected to enter China or be fined. Because the unauthorized alteration probably covers up other law- breaking behaviors, a further investigation may also be carried out to the holder. If any student arriving at the university holds a passport with unauthorized alteration, he/she will not be accepted to register.

合法居留

Valid Stay in China

每个在中国居留的外国人，必须要有合法有效的护照和签证/居留许可。护照过期、签证/居留许可过期 ，以及使用伪造的证件等，都将被视为非法居留。根据情节严重，可以被处以警告、罚款或者拘留审查直至遣返回国。因此，请每一位学生务必注意自己的护照和签证情况，确保不要出现护照或者签证过期的情况。

主管外国人出入境事务的部门为公安局出入境管理部门，其职责与其他一些国家的移民局类似。外国人在中国境内居住，还必须要向当地的公安派出所办理住宿登记手续。办理住宿登记手续必须在入住24小时内，携带本人护照和房东到当地派出所或者授权机关办理，并领取住宿登记表。一些涉外宾馆和公寓可以直接在前台办理。办理住宿登记后，请将住宿登记表和护照一起妥善保管，外出时请一同携带。

根据《中华人民共和国外国人入境出境管理法实施细则》，外国人在中国非法居留是一项严重的违法行为，视情节严重，可以处以警告、罚款乃至居留，并处限期离境的处罚。

Every foreigner must have a valid passport and visa/residence permit to stay in China. Staying with an expired or fake passport, visa/residence permit will be treated as illegal. It will leads to a warning, fine, arrest or repatriation. Therefore, please pay enough attention on the status of your passport and visa/residence permit and make sure not to leave them expired. The Division of Entrance and Exit of the Public Security Bureau (Police) is the authority for the affairs of foreigners, which plays a similar role as the Immigration in some other countries.

Foreigners who live in China should also register the address at the local police station. In 24 hours after moving into a new place, the foreigner should take the passport to the local police station or other authorized organ with his/her landlord to get an issued form/ certificate. In some hotels and apartments, it can be processed directly at the reception. Please keep the accommodation registration form/ certificate with the passport carefully and bring them both when going out.

According to the Rules for the Implementation of the People's Republic of China on Control of the Entry and Exit of Aliens, illegal stay in China is a serious violation to the law and aliens who illegally stay in China will be served a warning, fined or detained, and will also be ordered to leave in a specified time.

X2签证

X2 Visa

持有中国驻外使领馆签发的X2签证的学生，其有效期一般以入境停留时间的方式标注在签证上。外国人入境时，在边防检查时会在护照上加盖椭圆形的入境章。自入境章上标明的日期起，可以在中国境内停留签证上指定的天数。例如，2016年8月27日入境的学生，持有签证时间为180天，那么，该学生的签证有效期至2017年2月23日。（注意，180天略少于6个月。）X2签证上注明该签证的入境次数，表示在可以入境有效期内，签证持有人可以进入中国境内的次数。境外签发的一次入境的签证，在进入中国后，就不能再用作再次入境的签证。如果持有一次入境的2签证来华的学生需要出境后再入境，必须到外国留学生工作办公室申请再入境签证。

Students holding a X2 visa issued by the diplomatic missions outside of China, the expiration time is usually indicated by the days of stay in China. When you pass the border inspection at entrance, your passport will be stamped with an ellipse-shaped entrance stamp, with the date of entrance. From that date on, you can stay in China for the indicated days.

For instance, a student holding a 180-day X2 visa, enter China on Aug 27th, 2016, will be able to stay until Feb 23rd, 2017 with that visa. (Notice: 180 days are several days shorter than 6 months.) On the X2 visa, the time of entry for the visa holder is also indicated. The single entry visa issued in other countries cannot be used again after entrance of China. If you enter China with such a visa and need to exit and enter China again, you need to apply for additional entries via Foreign Student Affairs Office.

X1签证

X1 Visa

持有中国驻外使领馆签发的X 签证的学生，其有效期为30天，一般情况下只能一次入境。在30天内，必须到外国留学生工作办公室办理申请学习类居留许可的手续 。

一般情况下，申请居留许可需要提供经过卫生检验检疫部门认证的体检结果和血液检查报告，具体的流程请咨询外国留学生工作办公室工作人员。

The X1 visa issued by the diplomatic missions outside of China is usually only for single entry and valid for 30 days after entrance. The student should apply for a residence permit for study in 30 days. Usually, the verification of the physical examination report and blood test report issued by the Inspection and Quarantine authority is necessary. Please ask the staff in Foreign Student Affairs Office for detailed information if necessary.

居留许可

Residence Permit

居留许可的有效期以到期日期的形式标注在居留许可上。

持有居留许可的学生，可以在有效期内多次出入境，无需重新申请签证。

The validity time of the Residence Permit is indicated on it in terms of date of expiration. A student holding a residence permit has multiple entries before it expires and does not have to apply for another visa to re-enter China.

签证和居留许可的延期

Extension of Visa/Residence Permit

外国人所持签证或者居留许可有效期满仍然需要继续停留的，应当在期满前申请延期。超期停留或者居留的将被处以罚款（过期一天罚款500元，最高罚款5000元）或拘留处理，情节严重的，并处限期离境。

A foreigner, who needs to continue his/her stay in China after the expiration of his/her visa/residence permit, should apply for an extension before the expiration date. Otherwise a fine will be imposed (RMB 500 yuan per day and RMB 5000 yuan at most). The misfeasor may be arrested for further investigation.

复印重要证件信息并妥善保管

Keep a copy of important documents

我们建议所有学生复印一份重要的证件信息，例如护照、签证、居留许可、入学通知书、J W 2 0 1 / J W 2 0 2 表格、住宿登记表等。如果你能够保证信息不被泄露，扫描一份电子拷贝并保存在网络上可能是一个不错的主意 。 这样的一个拷贝虽 然不一定有法律效力，但是可以帮助你在某些情况下保留自己的重要信息，例如护照和签证号码等，并且帮助你证明你的身份。

We suggest every student to keep a photocopy of all important documents, such as passport, visa, residence permit, admission notice, and JW201/JW202 form and accommodation registration. Keeping an electronic scanning copy on the internet may be a good idea, as long as it is guaranteed they will not be stolen by others. The copy may not be authorized in some official circumstances, but it still can help you a lot when you need the important information, such as the passport number or visa number, and help you identify yourself much more easily.

如果丢失护照

Passport Lost

一旦你发现你丢失了护照，应当立刻向你最近的公安局或者派出所报案，并保留好公安部门开具给你的报案凭证。如果在校内丢失护照，可以直接向校园内的宁波大学治安派出所报案。然后，到外国留学生工作办公室，提供你的护照和有效签证或者居留许可的复印件，开具介绍信，并准备其他可能需要的文件。然后，到宁波市公安局出入境管理处开具护照报失证明，并凭此报失证明向你所在国家的驻华大使馆申请新的护照或者旅行证件。

取得新的护照以后，立刻返回外国留学生工作办公室， 办理新的签证或者居留许可。在此期间，一定要妥善保管好有关的证明文件，以证明你的合法身份。

As soon as you find out that your passport is lost, you should immediately report it to the nearest police station and get the receipt issued by the police. If you lost it in the campus, you can report to the police station on campus. Then, come to ISAO with a photocopy of your passport and valid visa / residence permit to get an introduction letter and other necessary documents. After that, you can go to the Department of Entrance and Exit of Ningbo Municipal Public Security Bureau to get a proof document and apply for a new passport or other travelling identification with it in the embassy.

Once you get the new passport, please return to ISAO as soon as possible and apply for a new visa / residence permit. During this time, do keep all the documents issued by the police carefully to identify you as staying legally.

更换护照

Renewing Passport

在任何情况下，你的签证或者居留许可的有效期都不可能超过你的护照的有效期。如果你在华停留期间护照即将到期，我们建议你尽快向你的国家驻华使领馆申请更换新的护照。取得新的护照以后，务必尽快到外国留学生工作办公室报告，以确保按照有关法律要求在十日内将签证或者居留许可转移到新的护照上。

It is impossible for the visa or residence permit to be valid if your passport has expired. If the rest valid time is not enough for your stay in China, you’d better apply for a new passport as soon as possible. After you get the new passport, you should report to the ISAO as soon as possible to transfer the visa or residence permit to your new passport within 10 days as required by the law.

Changing your accommodation

如果你打算换一下你的居住地点，也需要办理一些必不可少的手续，这些往往是容易被忽略的地方。搬进新的住址之后，首先要办理的仍然是到当地派出所办理的住宿登记。其次，你还需要带着新的住宿登记在10日内到外国留学生工作办公室，申请对签证上的住宿地址进行变更。否则的话，下次你申请签证的时候将会遇到麻烦。

If you want to change your living place, some processes, which are easily forgotten, are also required. As soon as you move into a new place, the first thing is to register at the local police station. Then, you have to come to ISAO with your new registration certificate to update the address on your visa within 10 days. Otherwise, you will get into trouble when you renew your visa next time.

如果你有任何关于你的护照和签证的疑问，请直接咨询留学生工作办公室。我们非常乐意在护照和签证问题上提供信息和给予力所能及的必要的协助。我们建议在对自己的护照、签证等情况有任何疑问的时候咨询工作人员，而不是自作主张或者听从其他同学的观点，而且不要忽视和拖延。一旦由于你的错误做法导致出现问题，处理起来 不仅费时费力，而且所有的后果和处罚都是 由你自己承担。我们建议你将留办的联系方式带在身上，以便在必要的时候能够咨询和寻求协助。同时我们也建议你及时将最新联系方式 留给留办，使得留办可以在必要的情况下将各种重要信息及时传达给你。

If you have any question about your passport and visa, do not hesitate to ask the staff in the Foreign Student Affairs Office. We would like to provide information and necessary assistance in the range of our ability. You should better get suggestions from the staff when you have questions, rather than follow the ideas of yourself or other people. Moreover, do not disregard it or delay it. If your mistake results in some troubles, it will be time-consuming and money-wasting to deal with them and you will be fully responsible for all consequences and penalty by yourself. It is suggested that you keep the contact of ISAO with yourself so that you can seek advice or ask for assistance in need. Meanwhile it is suggested you leave your latest contact to ISAO, so that you can be notified of important messages if necessary.

学生签证的办理

The Process for Student’s Visa

根据出入境管理机关的规定和程序，学生签证（申请、 延期、 更改等事务）的办理，首先要向留学生工作办公室申请，然后由指定的签证代理机构,采集上传学生信息，待出入境管理机关批准后方可由签证代理打印学生使用的签证申请表。在完成上述步骤以后，学生可以选择自己去签证中心办理签证，或者付费委托签证代理机构代为办理。学生签证的申请程序和其他人员的签证申请程序不同。因此，在没有获得留学生工作办公室的批准并上传信息前，请不要直接到签证中心办理学生签证。这样做不会 让你的申请得到正确的处理，只是无地浪费时间和精力。不要自作聪明，在签证问题上想当然地采取行动只会带来麻烦。留办所获得的任何关于签证政策的信息均为出入境管理部门的正式通知，所有在留办办理学生签证的流程均以留办提供的信息为准。如果有任何人员，包括警察在内，提供给你的信息和留办提供的不一致，请你提供告知者的详细身份和联系方式（例如，警察的姓名和警号），我们会和相关的警方部门联系，确认信息的真实性。在信息的真实性得到官方的正式确认之前，留办不会按照任何其他信息来源取得的信息办理签证业务。

According to the regulations and procedures of the Division of Exit and Entrance, Ningbo Municipal Public Security Bureau (the authority of immigration), students who want to apply for, change to or renew the student's visa should firstly apply to the ISAO, and the designated visa agency will collect the application information into the network system. After the application gets approved by the authority of immigration, the agency will print out the valid visa application form for student's visa. With all the procedures above accomplished, the student may choose to go to the visa center and apply for the visa by himself/herself, or pay a commission fee to appoint the agency to accomplish the rest. The procedures for student's visa differ from those for other types. Therefore, without the approval of ISAO and the collection of your information, DO NOT go directly to the visa center. It's only a meaningless waste of your time and energy and will not at all help process your application correctly.

Don't take it for granted that you are wise on the visa affairs. It will only make more troubles if you take it granted.

Since all the information about visa affairs are subject to the official notice from the authority of exit and entrance administration, ISAO will never process the visa affairs according to the information from any other sources unless it is authenticated and confirmed officially. If anybody, including a policeman, provides any information about the visa affairs that is different from that provided by ISAO, please remember the exact identification and contact of that person (i.e., the name, the police number and the telephone). ISAO will confirm with the authority but will still insist on the official source until the new policy is confirmed.

货币兑换

Currency Exchange

由于人民币仍然不是可以自由兑换的货币，所以可能在境外你无法兑换到人民币。我们建议在你抵达栎社机场时兑换一定数量的人民币现金。在机场的出口处有银行提供货币兑换的服务。在没有大额的消费的情况下，几百元的数额应该是一个比较合理的选择，携带大量现金也是一个不安全的因素。在宁波的很多银行网点都提供外币兑换服务，如果持有外币现金的话可以很方便的换成人民币。我们强烈建议学生不要在非正规的机构和个人处兑换货币，未经政府批准的货币兑换往往有很大的风险，比如假钞等。

Since exchange of RMB is still under control, you may not be able to get RMB out of China. We suggest you change some money into RMB cash on your arrival at the airport. Only for the daily cost for the first days, several hundreds of RMB is reasonable. Carrying a large amount of cash is also a hidden risk to your safety. Many bank outlets in Ningbo provide foreign currency exchange service. You can change your money into RMB conveniently. It is strongly suggested that students do not go to any place unauthorized to change money. You will risk the possibility of forged notes at these places that are not eligible to exchange.

在中国的ATM机上，很多国际信用卡组织发行的卡片都可以使用，但是最常见的是VISA和MasterCard，其他类型的卡片（American Express/Diners/Discovery/JCB等）相对比较少见。因此，我们建议你携带VISA的银行卡在中国使用。

Cards issued by many international finance systems can be used on ATM's in China. The most widely acceptable ones are VISA and MasterCard. Some others, such as American Express, Diners, Discovery, and JCB are also acceptable, but only on a much smaller number of ATM's. Therefore, we suggest you take a card issued by VISA to China.

正常情况下，你可以凭《录取通知书》或者留办开具的介绍信，到学校的饮食服务中心办理餐卡。餐卡是可充值的，而且大多数的学生餐厅只能使用餐卡就餐。只有少数几个餐厅接受现金付费。

Normally, after you arrive at the university, you can apply for a Beverage Card in the Food & Beverage Service Center with your Admission Notice or an introduction letter issued by ISAO. The card is rechargeable and most students' cafeterias only accept it for the payment. Only a few cafeterias accept cash.

学校里面有十几个学生餐厅，提供包括中餐、西餐、清真餐以内的各种餐食。学生餐厅的营业时间为早餐7:00-8:30，午餐11:00-12:30，晚餐16:30-18:30。个别餐厅晚上21:30前会提供夜宵。

There are over 10 cafeterias on campus, providing meals of Chinese, western and Muslim cuisine. The opening times of the students' cafeteria is 7:00-8:30 for breakfast, 11:00-12:30 for lunch and 16:30-18:30 for supper. Some also serve food at night before 21:30.

解决抵达当天的饮食问题

Arrange your meal upon arrival

如果你抵达的时间不合适或者太晚，或者没有来得及办理餐卡，就没有办法在餐厅就餐了。一个办法是到公寓楼超市买一些食品。公寓楼超市营业时间24/7，而且有面包、饼干、方便面等各种速食食品以及饮料，并且提供微波炉以共加热，在公寓房间里也有开水壶可以自己烧开水。

However, if you arrive too late at night, or you do not have enough time to apply for the Beverage Card, you cannot have meals in the cafeterias. One solution is to buy some food in the apartment supermarket, which serves 24/7. You can find breads, cakes, instant noodles and other quick served food and drinks. Microwave oven is also served for heating there. There is also an electrical kettle in the apartment to boil water.

Ø  重要文件的复印件（护照、录取通知书、JW201/JW202等）

Ø  现金：自费留学生报到当天需付费，参见：学费&费用

Ø  5张两英寸的护照照片（记得多带一些照片，如果需要更多的时候能帮你节约时间）

Ø  Be sure to enter China with a “Student Entry Visa (X1 for students, who stay longer than 180 days and X2 for students, who stay shorter than 180 days), otherwise you will be responsible for all the possible consequences.

Ø  Self-funded students need to show payment of tuition and registration fee, bring receipt.

Ø  Copies of important documents (passport, letter of admission, JW201/JW202, etc.)

Ø  Cash: remember that self-funded students are required to make payments on registration day, see: Tuition & Expenses.

Ø  5 two-inch passport photos (remember to bring a few extra, it will save you a lot of time, if you need more)

来校后

Once you arrive...

Ø  在阳光留学生公寓或甬江留学生公寓办理住宿（办理住宿时，需要预付房费，参见：学费&费用）

Ø  在注册前购买SIM卡：已经购买SIM卡将加快注册流程，校内购买SIM卡价格实惠

Ø  到留学生办公室办理注册

Ø  在中国工商银行（校内）办理银行账户

Ø  留学时间超过180天的学生必须进行体检，体检的具体日期和时间将在注册日告知学生本人

Ø  领取体检报告后，你必须尽快申请办理居留许可。

Ø  Find accommodation, either at International Student’s Hostel or Yongjiang Dormitory (remember that you might have to prepay the room fee, see: Tuition & Expenses)

Ø  Buy SIM-Card, before registering: You might want to buy a SIM-Card, as it can make the registration process faster and easier. You can do that directly on campus for a very reasonable price with special on-campus deals.

Ø  Go to International Student Affairs Office to register

Ø  Sign up for a bank account with ICBC (located on campus)

Ø  Students, who stay longer than 180 days are required to take the physical examination. The exact date and time will be given to you on registration day. (Bus from NBU)

Ø  Once you have picked up the physical examination results, you have to apply for the residence permit.
